The challenge

Build the workflow, not only the ordering screen.

A customer-facing menu is only the beginning of delivery. Once an order is placed, the kitchen needs an accurate ticket, a rider needs the correct delivery information, the customer needs useful progress updates, and management needs control over the entire process.

Sugar Goat needed those perspectives to work as one branded system. The project therefore focused on the movement of a real order through the business, rather than treating each application as a separate demo.

The system

Four applications, one order lifecycle.

Every interface is focused on the decisions its user needs to make, while sharing the same operational order state.

Customer ordering

A branded way to discover, order and follow progress

Customers can browse the menu, choose item options, build a cart, check out and follow the order from confirmation through delivery.

  • Responsive web ordering
  • Menu options and cart
  • Checkout flow
  • Order tracking and history

Kitchen operations

New orders arrive where preparation happens

The kitchen interface turns customer orders into readable tickets, helping the team move each order through preparation without copying details manually.

  • Live order queue
  • Clear item details
  • Preparation status
  • Ready-for-delivery handoff

Rider delivery

A focused workflow for the final kilometre

Riders receive the delivery details they need, update arrival and delivery status, and keep the customer-facing tracker connected to the real order state.

  • Assigned delivery details
  • Customer address
  • Arrival update
  • Delivery confirmation

Administration

One place to manage the operating system

The admin interface provides control over menu content, availability and the order lifecycle across the customer, kitchen and rider applications.

  • Menu and pricing
  • Item availability
  • Order monitoring
  • Operational settings

Order architecture

One source of truth for the team.

The system uses shared application data so an order can move through clear states without being re-entered by each team.

  1. 01

    Customer places the order

Menu selections and delivery details create the operational order.

  2. 02

    Kitchen prepares it

The kitchen sees the ticket and updates preparation progress.

  3. 03

    Rider completes delivery

Delivery information and status move to the assigned rider workflow.

  4. 04

    Customer and admin stay informed

Shared status updates keep both perspectives connected.

Product decisions

Designed around how the cafe intends to operate.

01

One order state across four applications

The key product decision was to treat the system as one workflow rather than four unrelated interfaces. A status update should be meaningful to the customer, kitchen, rider and administrator.

02

Web access before app-store publication

The customer experience can be tested and later shared as a web link while Apple and Google developer-account setup and store review are completed separately.

03

A simple experience over feature overload

The product prioritises menu clarity, dependable status updates and the day-to-day order flow. Extra promotional mechanics were not allowed to distract from the core experience.

04

Fun at the right moment

The rider-arrival experience was designed to feel friendly and distinctive without making the operational parts of ordering playful or unclear.

Current project status

The applications are implemented and available for client testing.

The customer, admin, kitchen and rider web applications have been deployed for review. Final production payment setup, store publication and the public launch depend on the relevant client-owned accounts, approvals and final acceptance.

The commission model below shows what direct orders can save at representative order values and volumes. These are projections, not realised Sugar Goat revenue results, and will be updated with verified operating data after public launch.

Results & savings model

A direct channel changes the cost of every migrated order.

MehmoodTech takes no percentage commission from direct orders. Payment processing, delivery, hosting and operating costs still apply.
